About West River Racing
West River Racing is Minnesota’s largest USAC-affiliated adult bike racing club with more than 70 members. Founded in 2008 as Birchwood Bike and Racing Team, we are a Minneapolis / St. Paul based passionate group of cycling enthusiasts who enjoy all forms of group bike riding. Our journey, spanning over a decade, reflects our unwavering commitment to the joy of cycling.
Our Mission
At West River Racing, our mission transcends competitive racing; we embrace the sheer joy and communal spirit of cycling. We're a mosaic of diverse riders, from fierce competitors mastering road, criterium, time trial, cyclocross, gravel, and mountain biking, to social cyclists relishing in the camaraderie of group rides. While we are racers at heart, our essence is inclusivity, catering to a wide spectrum of goals and abilities.
Ride with Us: From Intensity to Espresso
Our typical weekly ride schedule is a testament to our versatility:
Mondays: FTW/Women's Ride - A welcoming space for our femme/trans/women riders.
Tuesdays: Tuesday Night Ride (TuNR) - Our most intense ride, led by our sponsor NOW bikes.
Wednesdays: Hill Ride - Conquer the steepest hills in St. Paul with various pace options.
Thursdays: Thursday Night Ride (ThNR) - A balanced blend of fun and spice to Gray Cloud Island, led by our sponsor NOW bikes.
Fridays: Happy Hour Ride - Unwind with a scenic social ride to the Coon Rapids dam and enjoy the patio at Pryes Brewery.
Saturdays: Long Ride - Embark on a 50-100 mile journey, with changing scenic routes.
Sundays: Coffee Ride - A relaxed pace with a coffee stop, the perfect end to your week.
More than Just Racers
We don’t just participate; we lead
West River Racing proudly organizes two of Minnesota's state championship races: the MN State Road Race and Cyclocross Championships. Our clinics in gravel, criterium, and cyclocross are perfect for new riders to learn from the experienced. And in 2024, we're excited to co-host the state championship omnium!
